Julius Sello Malema is the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, a South African political party, which he founded in July 2013 who previously served as President of the African National Congress Youth League from 2008 to 2012 and was expelled from the party in April 2012.

He occupies a notably controversial position in South African public and political life, having risen to prominence and has been described by both Zuma and the Premier of Limpopo Province as the “future leader” of South Africa.

He established a political party and named it the Economic Freedom Fighters launched on 10 July 2013. Following the fourth democratic National Elections in 2014, the EFF obtained 25 seats in the National Assembly, after having secured 6.35 percent of the national votes.

Malema officially obtained his BA Degree in Political Leadership and Citizenship from the University of South Africa (UNISA) on 30 March 2016, at a graduation ceremony held on the Pretoria campus.

In 2016 & 2017 Africa Youth Awards named him among the Inaugural 100 Most Influential Young Africans, an initiative instituted to promote African youth movements and achieving and also restoring excellence in the works of young people across Africa.
